The environmentalist are suing the company for 19 billion dollars for damage done to irreplaceable things. Ceveron tried to buy its way out of the case but attorney Chris Gowen planes to stop them. The case which is yet to be solved has ended with The president of ecuador president Rafael Correa calling for a global boycott of all chevron products.
REFLECTION
Power to the people right? Well I think that the company chevron should defiantly pay this fine. The fact that they tried to buy their way out of the trials proves that this company should not be getting away with this so easily. The company head should have been watching out for environmental concerns. This company has made irreversible damage to to the ecudorian culture and they need to respect that and take care of the people.
RELATING TO CULTURE
This article relates the article because of the people and the government and the land itself. culture is what makes up society and all the little pieces of the puzzle that make the town the way it is. Even though yes the people of this country got hurt they also have lost something even more valuable, their culture. By having an Endangered rain forest hurt or partly destroyed you have forever hurt the people that live there.
